In 2021, the American Psychologist published a Special Issue entitled, "Rendered Invisible: Are Asian Americans a Model or a Marginalized Minority?" Three of the co-editors of this special issue, Tiffany Yip, Lisa Kiang, and Gordon Nagayama Hall, will discuss the invisibility of Asian Americans and what has transpired in the time since the special issue was published. Although Asian Americans are the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States since 2000, they lack attention in society and in research. Each panelist will discuss their current work on Asian Americans. Dr. Yip will address the impact of ethnic-specific and general stressors for well-being outcomes. Dr. Kiang will discuss protective influences on development. Dr. Hall will review the personal relevance of psychotherapy. Questions to be discussed include: 1.What has changed since the special issue was published in 2021? 2.What are current Asian American research issues? 3.Where is the field headed in the next decade and beyond? 4.What advice do you have for junior scholars? Each panelist will respond to these questions, identifying commonalities and uniqueness across panelists. After the panelists respond to each question, the audience will ask questions of the panelists.
