For this research symposium, four researchers offer insight into multiple levels of support for recovery from substance use disorders. Their research results come from community projects focusing on a range of topics around addiction and all consider a cultural aspect of the populations sampled. Each researcher worked collaboratively with a community agency to understand the addiction services provided and conducted studies to offer a new or modified treatment intervention. From prevention to intervention and focusing either on patients or providers, the results of these four studies offer insight into culturally-centered addiction treatment and the power of community-based research. Each researcher will discuss the role of psychologists in interdisciplinary research and the benefit of integrated care for substance use disorders. 

One researcher will discuss the experiences of clinicians providing culturally-focused addiction treatment serving Native clients in integrated care. Another researcher will discuss the development of an evidence-based interactive training program for clinicians on the integration of culturally-centered addiction treatment via telehealth. One will discuss parental views and recommendations for substance use prevention programs using cultural knowledge and language for youth. Another researcher will discuss the perceptions of residents in integrated addiction culturally-centered healthcare.
