This interactive panel will address the development of diversity science over the past half century and offer perspectives on its future. The distinguished panelists include developmental, social, personality, and clinical scientists. They represent African American, Latinx, and Asian American communities. In addition to their research, these scientists have served as teachers, mentors, administrators, grant reviewers, journal editors, and leaders in APA. The panelists were also members of the APA Minority Fellowship Advisory Committee and will reflect on the training of scientists. Each will share how the field has changed over the decades, a long-term view of their personal successes and challenges, and tips to help diversity science continue to thrive. The panel is intended to offer guidance and inspiration for researchers and students. Questions to be discussed include: 1.How has the field changed since you entered it? 2.What is the most pressing issue in the field? 3.How have you communicated the value of diversity science to skeptics? 4.What advice do you have for junior scholars? Each panelist will respond to these questions, identifying commonalities and uniqueness. After the panelists respond to each question, the audience will ask questions of the panelists.
